CHA2DS2-VASc Score Calculator
The CHA2DS2-VASc score is a clinical tool used to estimate the risk of stroke in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). It helps guide decisions about anticoagulation therapy.
🧮 Score Breakdown
- C – Congestive Heart Failure: 1 point
- H – Hypertension: 1 point
- A2 – Age ≥ 75: 2 points
- D – Diabetes Mellitus: 1 point
- S2 – Stroke/TIA History: 2 points
- V – Vascular Disease: 1 point
- A – Age 65–74: 1 point
- Sc – Female Sex: 1 point
🎯 Interpretation
- Low Risk (0 points): No anticoagulation recommended.
- Moderate Risk (1 point): Consider anticoagulation therapy.
- High Risk (2+ points): Anticoagulation therapy generally recommended.
📌 Example Calculation
A 76-year-old female with congestive heart failure, hypertension, diabetes, and prior stroke:
1 (CHF) + 1 (HTN) + 2 (Age ≥ 75) + 1 (Diabetes) + 2 (Stroke) + 1 (Female) = 8 points → High Risk
